"Nightspots"
Bangkok has a reputation for wild and rowdy nightlife. However, the
city's nightlife is relaxed, safe and very enjoyable. You don't need to
dress up, and for most places you won't break the bank.
Across the board, the choice of entertainment is growing - Bangkok has
never had so many pubs, bars and restaurant, each trying to offer a unique
experience. In addition, live music has never been so popular and now all
types of venues have both local and overseas bands to provide the
entertainment.
Interest in jazz has recently increased and now hotels such as the
Imperial Queen’s Park, Plaza Athanee and Sheraton Grande regularly feature
leading musicians, as well as the Saxaphone Bar by Victory Monument. Other
popular bars for live music are Brown Sugar on Soi Sarasin and Ad Makers
on Soi Lang Suan. Irish bars such as Shenenigans on Soi Convent and The
Dubliner on Sukhumvit also have good jam sessions.
For the more colourful side of Bangkok’s nightlife, the red light areas
are concentrated around Silom Road (Patpong, Thaniya, Silom Soi 2 and 4)
and Sukhumvit (Soi Nana, Soi Cowboy, Soi 33).
